01 / THE BEGINNING

Apparently, I'm doing this now.

Jess walked into her first stand-up competition as the only complete beginner—and walked out as runner-up.

She survived both audience-voted rounds, reached the full final and finished second against acts with considerably more stage time. The entirely proportionate response was to immediately crave another gig.
